Southpoints #2 and #3 Regatta Recap – Progression

By admin

The Westminster and MAST Academy sailing team recently competed in two regattas, showcasing their skills in challenging conditions. On January 26th, the varsity team traveled to St. Petersburg for the SAISA South Points #2 regatta. Sailing in light and shifty winds, Castan and Danny represented the team in Varsity A in a club FJ, while Peter and Victoria sailed the WCS 420 in Varsity B. The regatta provided valuable experience for the team as they navigated new equipment and very shifty and variable conditions.

Just a week later, on February 1st, both the varsity and junior varsity teams competed closer to home at the Ransom School regatta in Miami. The varsity team mirrored their lineup from the previous regatta, with Castan and Danny again taking the helm in Varsity A and Peter and Victoria sailing Varsity B. The junior varsity team also joined the action, with Penelope and Margarita competing in JV A and Tony getting some racing experience in JV A as well. These back-to-back regattas provided a great opportunity for the team to test their skills and build momentum for the remainder of the season. The coaches are all very proud of the progress the Westminster team has made from the first regatta to the third, and will be working over the coming weeks to prepare for Southpoints #4 in Tampa on March 1st.
